Neilson Art Centre-Ms. Walton's Class

On February 7th, 2013 Ms.Walton's class participated in an activity involving the Neilson Art Centre. They came to our school because of the issue of the teacher's strike but we did the same activity we would have done if we went there. So here I go talking about our classes experience.

The class 7C was visited by a few workers at the Neilson Art Centre. We started off with doing some exercises and these weren't any ordinary stretches or exercises. We had to create the most knoted shape we could with our body, the most wiggly shape with our body and crazy things like that but after this we got to the main activity. Our class started off with finding a painting that we thought was awesome or really ugly (anything we felt by looking at a painting) and sit infront of it (it was displayed on the walls) and look at it carefully. Everyone did as told and we had to keep our the pictures in our heads as we headed to our class (we were in the lunch room of our school before and then left) to make our own drawings. We got to draw whatever we wanted and most students drew what they liked and showed how creative they were. As everyone finished we broke into groups and explained what we drew and why. This part was probably the best since we got to show off what we drew in front of everyone but this was only half of the activity. After our lunch break is when we got to do more things and see more things.

When we came back (from lunch) one of the visitors who's name was Robin performed a dance routine which was unexpected. It was an amazing thing to see and funny since a student got in the mix without even knowing but they did this to show us to use our imagination when doing anything because Robin made her performance on the spot using her imagination.  Then we got to do another painting but these were much better. For these drawings our imagination got into the action and everyone had amazing drawings and as we explained them again it showed that we knew more about why they drew, since they already did this in the morining but at the end of the day it was all about showing how creative we were and using our imagination. So this was 7C's experience and they learned lots so after reading this maybe you might have, too.
